Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>President Cyril Ramaphosa has welcomed the preliminary results of Mozambique’s general elections.<\/p>\n

Ramaphosa congratulated president-elect, Frelimo’s Daniel Chapo, and highlighted the significance of these polls, marking 32 years since the end of the civil war.<\/p>\n

Presidency Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said that Ramaphosa is however concerned about reports of post-election violence, including the deaths of two opposition part members.<\/p>\n

“The president commends the people of Mozambique for their active and enthusiastic participation in the elections, especially women who constituted 53% of the electorate.”<\/p>\n

Magwenya said that the president has urged all parties to remain calm and to pursue legal avenues to resolve any disputes.<\/p>\n
