Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Former Joburg Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda has been fired from the city\u2019s mayoral committee following his recent arrest for fraud.<\/p>\n

Gwamanda, who had been serving as community development MMC, was arrested last month due to his alleged 2011 involvement in a fraudulent funeral insurance scheme.<\/p>\n

Joburg Mayor Dada Morero suspended Gwamanda pending internal investigations into the fraud allegations.<\/p>\n

<\/b>
\nIn a statement, Morero said Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) Councillor Tebogo Nkonkou will replace Gwamanda.<\/p>\n

“The decision to discharge Gwamanda is effective immediately and aims to ensure that the city\u2019s service delivery remains uninterrupted and continues to meet the needs of its residents.”<\/p>\n

The mayor is confident that Nkonkou will lead the department with dedication.<\/p>\n

He added that the City of Johannesburg is committed to delivering quality services to residents.<\/p>\n
