Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Gauteng residents will on Sunday learn about new by-laws regulating spaza shops, as authorities respond to a rise in deadly food poisoning cases.<\/p>\n

In recent weeks, dozens of people, mostly children, have died after eating contaminated food allegedly purchased from spaza shops.<\/p>\n

The sometimes fatal incidents have spurred the government to strengthen efforts to address the crisis and find solutions.<\/p>\n

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi will outline the by-laws and regulations for spaza shop operations.<\/p>\n

He will meet with executive council members, municipal leaders and department heads to coordinate a provincial response.<\/p>\n

Lesufi said these tragic incidents require urgent, collaborative action at government, business and community levels.<\/p>\n

He is set to brief the media at the Sci-Bno Discovery Centre in Newtown, Johannesburg.<\/p>\n
