Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Takealot has opened a distribution centre in Durban, with the group looking to improve service in the country\u2019s second most populated province.<\/p>\n

The new distribution centre is located within The Brickworks Industrial Park.<\/p>\n

The new facility became operational on 20 September 2024 with the Naspers-owned company stating that it will ensure more efficient fulfilment for its shoppers in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opening of our new Durban Distribution Centre is an investment in the local economy of KwaZulu-Natal. Firstly, the centre is a strategic enhancement of our delivery network to better service the people of the province,\u201d said Frederik Zietsman, Takealot Group CEO.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecondly and equally important, the centre will serve as a vehicle for creating valuable employment opportunities in the area and supporting local KZN-based SMEs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are the critical levers of our commitment to fostering economic growth in this dynamic province, and across South Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite Takealot being active in the region for over a decade, the new facility ensures Takealot\u2019s ability to process orders quicker and more efficiently to meet the growing demands of shoppers in the region.<\/p>\n

The facility spans 43,000 square metres and is equipped to ship up to 45,000 units per day.<\/p>\n

The new distribution centre is also set to drive job creation, with significant direct and indirect employment opportunities. These opportunities will span various sectors, including warehouse operations, logistics, and collaborations with local delivery services.<\/p>\n

\u201cDurban, being one of South Africa\u2019s leading industrial and economic hubs, plays an important role in the country\u2019s trade and logistics networks,\u201d said Zietsman.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe city\u2019s infrastructure connects regional markets to global supply chains, and its strategic location offers unmatched access to key transport routes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new Distribution Centre in Durban enables Takealot to leverage on these logistical advantages, making it easier to serve customers in KZN and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n
