Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The African National Congress (ANC) has summoned all its municipal councillors from across the country to Johannesburg as part of preparations for the upcoming local government elections.<\/p>\n

The party is holding what it terms a roll call at the Goldrush Dome in Nasrec on Monday, where its councillors will account for their performance since the 2026 municipal elections.<\/p>\n

The gathering forms part of efforts to ensure its councillors remain aligned with the ANC’s mandate.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the sidelines of the ANC’s National Executive Committee meeting in Boksburg over the weekend, Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said these are among efforts to win back public trust.<\/p>\n

“We are expecting 6,690 of our councillors together with our structures at the roll call. The objective of the roll call is to introduce the service delivery infrastructure plan, which would have been adopted by the NEC. The president will give marching orders to councillors and their role in its implementation.”<\/p>\n

This comes amid the party’s attempts to make up for lost ground after suffering massive back-to-back electoral losses at the local and national levels.<\/p>\n

“The president will give marching orders to councillors and their role in its implementation – a measurable, monitored plan after every three months. Where there are challenges at municipalities, we will be able to lead,” said Mbalula.<\/p>\n
