{"id":90428,"date":"2025-09-27T15:07:05","date_gmt":"2025-09-27T15:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/hannif-hoosen-vows-to-revive-ethekwini-metro"},"modified":"2025-09-27T15:38:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T15:38:19","slug":"hannif-hoosen-vows-to-revive-ethekwini-metro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/hannif-hoosen-vows-to-revive-ethekwini-metro","title":{"rendered":"Hannif Hoosen Vows to Revive EThekwini Metro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>DURBAN &#8211; Democratic Alliance (DA) mayoral candidate for the eThekwini metro, Hannif Hoosen, has vowed to prioritise service delivery in the city should he be elected mayor.<\/p>\n<p>Hoosen, a former member of parliament, was announced as the candidate for the metro in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The DA says the municipality, which is the province\u2019s economic hub, is a key feature of its election plan for the upcoming local government elections.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after being announced as the preferred candidate for the KZN metro\u2019s top post, Hoosen took to the podium, making a number of promises, many of which were centred around issues of service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I\u2019m elected your mayor, it will not matter where you live, it will not matter what you look like, and it will not matter how you speak \u2013 we will fight for the residents of the city to ensure that they have decent facilities, decent services, street lights that work, and no potholes in the city of Durban.\u201d Hoosen said.<\/p>\n<p>He told hundreds of party supporters gathered in Chatsworth that he will revive tourism in the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHotels along our beaches were packed, and tourists took to our streets.
