Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The City of Cape Town will this week begin its annual beach lowering program in preparation for the festive season.<\/p>\n

The process involves pushing beach sand back to the lower water mark.<\/p>\n

Assessments at Fish Hoek, Muizenberg, Gordan’s Bay and Bikini Beach will begin on Wednesday and lowering continue until the end of November.<\/p>\n

MMC for Spatial planning and Environment, Eddie Andrews said beaches will remain open for visitors during this time.<\/p>\n

“So we’ll commence first with the assessments of those beaches. And based on the assessment, the engineers will confirm how much sand we must remove in order to profile it in a manner that would ensure the sand does not migrate as often as it does,” said Andrews.<\/p>\n
