Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has rejected calls by Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema for him to appear before Parliament\u2019s police ad hoc committee, as it prepares to start its hearings next week.<\/p>\n

Malema insisted on McKenzie\u2019s name being added to the list because he says the Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader had indicated his willingness to assist the process.<\/p>\n

But McKenzie said he was not prepared to appear, especially at Malema\u2019s request.<\/p>\n

At its last meeting, Malema told the ad hoc committee probing corruption and interference in the criminal justice system that McKenzie should be considered a witness and invited.<\/p>\n

Malema and other MPs motivated for more names to be added, including President Cyril Ramaphosa and former minister, Bheki Cele, and former national police commissioner, Khehla Sitole, who should answer questions after KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.<\/p>\n

“Minister Gayton McKenzie said he wants to be called because he\u2019s got a lot to say and he\u2019s got a lot of information about criminal syndicates that is taking place in this country.”<\/p>\n

But McKenzie said he was not interested.<\/p>\n

“Julius Malema must just go to hell. He must put EFF people who he wants to go there. I will not go because he\u2019s the one saying I should go.”<\/p>\n

McKenzie said the spokesperson of the Patriotic Alliance would make a submission on behalf of the party instead of him personally.<\/p>\n

The committee hearings will start on Tuesday next week, with Mkhwanazi as the first witness.<\/p>\n
