{"id":90904,"date":"2025-10-03T12:51:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T12:51:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/court-orders-ex-sabc-board-members-to-pay-r11-million-bonus"},"modified":"2025-10-03T14:39:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T14:39:00","slug":"court-orders-ex-sabc-board-members-to-pay-r11-million-bonus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/court-orders-ex-sabc-board-members-to-pay-r11-million-bonus","title":{"rendered":"Court Orders Ex-SABC Board Members to Pay R11 Million Bonus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Three former SABC board members have been ordered by the Gauteng High Court to cough up for signing off on an R11 million bonus paid to the broadcaster&#8217;s former chief operations officer, Hlaudi Motsoeneng.<\/p>\n<p>This after a protracted legal battle by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to get Motsoeneng to repay the money, which it found to have been an irregular payment made nine years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The SIU has already seized Motsoeneng\u2019s R6 million pension.<\/p>\n<p>But now the court said that the former board members who approved a so-called \u201csuccess fee\u201d, Mbulaheni Maguvhe, Ndivhoniswani Tshidzumba, and Maleshane Raphela must cough up the rest of the money plus the interest calculated since the date of summons.<\/p>\n<p>They awarded Motsoeneng the bonus after a deal was clinched with Multichoice, which was later set aside by the court.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The SIU is committed to following all legal avenues to recover every cent lost by the SABC and ultimately, the South African public.
