Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>In another strategic initiative to unlock value for its loyal cardholders and Rewards loyalty programme members, Absa has unveiled Absa Rewards Travel Hub<\/b>, a new digital travel booking capability in the Absa Banking App.<\/p>\n

Absa is making a decisive entry into the travel market by offering customers up to 100% discount on base fare (subject to local and international flight caps) for air travel booked with qualifying Absa debit and credit cards.<\/p>\n

In partnership with Travelstart, its travel rewards partner, the bank aims to set a new benchmark in the industry, challenging the limits of current market offers.<\/p>\n

The platform and its headline flight benefit launched in the Absa Banking App on 8 September 2025.<\/p>\n

Client-first value proposition<\/b><\/p>\n

Alicia Raynard, Executive: Absa Rewards, said: \u201cWe are extremely thrilled to offer this platform and benefit to our clients, (subject to terms and conditions) from students through to Private Wealth clients.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTravel is more than the journey \u2013 it\u2019s about the stories that bring people together and strengthen bonds.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy offering discounts of up to 100% on base fare, we\u2019re ensuring that those special travel moments are more accessible and rewarding for our clients.\u201d<\/p>\n

Discount upfront, not later<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cImportantly, we\u2019ve introduced a new discount model. Clients receive their flight discount upfront on the base fare \u2013 instantly aligned to their Rewards Tier and Absa card \u2013 rather than waiting for accrual as with our standard cash back model,\u201d said Raynard.<\/p>\n

While the booking platform is available to all Absa clients, only Absa Rewards members qualify for the exclusive flight benefit of up to 100% discount.<\/p>\n

Embedded travel reimagined<\/b><\/p>\n

Mikha\u2019il Ernest, Group Chief Commercial Officer at Travelstart, added: \u201cTogether with Absa, we\u2019ve built something that\u2019s both simple and powerful: instant, upfront travel discounts available to millions of clients at scale.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re aiming to reshape how financial services and travel intersect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scale and digital reach<\/b><\/p>\n

Raynard continued: \u201cAs a digitally powered business, it was important to integrate this feature into our banking app to deliver scale and reach.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAbsa Rewards Travel, originally launched as a microsite in 2022, now finds its permanent home in the app \u2013 where over two million logins happen daily.\u201d<\/p>\n
