Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>National Prosecuting Authority head Shamila Batohi will step down in January and the search for her successor is already stirring controversy.<\/p>\n

The panel members reportedly have limited legal experience, which has raised questions about their legitimacy.<\/p>\n

The process is being chaired by Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi, who dismissed the criticism, saying they have the right people on the panel.<\/p>\n

She says that the panel members do not need prosecutorial experience to make the right choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking for a person to come in as the NDPP, it is a person who would be able to operate without fear or favour, a person who is going to be independent, a person who is highly technical and highly competent. That is what we are looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n
