{"id":91486,"date":"2025-10-14T15:43:49","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T15:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/sibiya-claims-mkhwanazi-banned-him-from-kzn-operations"},"modified":"2025-10-14T16:09:04","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T16:09:04","slug":"sibiya-claims-mkhwanazi-banned-him-from-kzn-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/sibiya-claims-mkhwanazi-banned-him-from-kzn-operations","title":{"rendered":"Sibiya Claims Mkhwanazi Banned Him From KZN Operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Suspended Deputy Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya told Parliament that he was banned from operating in KwaZulu-Natal by provincial police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.<\/p>\n<p>Sibiya said he had a good relationship with Mkhwanazi, but it soured when the KZN top cop accused him of going over his head when he instructed Mkhwanazi&#8217;s deputy to carry out a task regarding the murder of rapper Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA.<\/p>\n<p>Sibiya was giving evidence before Parliament&#8217;s ad hoc committee investigating police corruption on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Sibiya told Parliament that he was working well with Mkhwanazi and the relationship only changed when he inquired about the case involving those arrested for AKA&#8217;s murder.<\/p>\n<p>Sibiya said that former police minister, Bheki Cele, had asked for a briefing on the AKA murder from KZN, but he couldn&#8217;t get hold of Mkhwanazi and spoke to his deputy instead.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Normally, when I contact him, you find that he&#8217;s busy in a meeting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He said this angered Mkhwanazi.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He said he&#8217;s appointed in terms of the Constitution and I&#8217;m appointed in terms of police regulations, and he&#8217;s responsible for policing in KZN, and from now onwards, you&#8217;ve got nothing to do with KZN.
