Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Democratic Alliance (DA) filed an ethics complaint against Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe for allegedly misleading Parliament.<\/p>\n

Tolashe appeared before the portfolio committee earlier this month to explain a number of employment matters, including that of the department\u2019s Director General Peter Netshipale who appeared alongside her.<\/p>\n

But Netshipale is now facing disciplinary action, prompting the DA\u2019s Alexandra Abrahams to believe that Tolashe\u2019s responses were contradictory and should be probed by Parliament\u2019s Ethics Committee.<\/p>\n

During her last appearance before Parliament Tolashe explained that previous written information provided to Parliament about the employment Netshipale was an inadvertent and clerical error and that cabinet only approved his appointment for a year and not five years.<\/p>\n

Since then, disciplinary steps have been taken against Netshipale who is facing three charges including possible dishonesty for signinga five-year contract.<\/p>\n

But SA spokesperson for Social Development Alexandra Abrahams believes it\u2019s Tolashe who has been dishonest, providing conflicting information to parliament since the party began probing whether Netshipale\u2019s appointment has been irregular.<\/p>\n

“The minister has caused irreversible, reputational harm to the Department of Social Development, Parliament, Cabinet and the national government at large. The minister has violated the code of ethical conduct and is not fit to hold her position and should be removed. ”<\/p>\n

Abrahams has also written to the chairperson of parliament\u2019s portfolio committee to insist that Tolashe once again to explain why the disciplinary action taken against Netshipale appears to contradict the explanation given to the committee.<\/p>\n
