{"id":91804,"date":"2025-10-20T19:02:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T19:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/madlanga-commission-hears-police-deterrence-tactics"},"modified":"2025-10-20T19:20:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T19:20:06","slug":"madlanga-commission-hears-police-deterrence-tactics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/madlanga-commission-hears-police-deterrence-tactics","title":{"rendered":"Madlanga Commission Hears Police Deterrence Tactics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>A witness from organised crime has testified before the Madlanga Commission on how the team investigating the murder of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Swart, was briefed about the push-back they would receive from police.<\/p>\n<p>Witness &#8216;A&#8217; &#8211; presented the evidence on Monday morning, while testifying partially in-camera.<\/p>\n<p>Due to risks posed to his safety, Witness A &#8211; who is currently testifying from a safe house in an undisclosed location &#8211; is testifying with his voice being broadcast but his face being hidden.<\/p>\n<p>Witness A has testified how the murder of Swart, was the start of unravelling the big five criminal syndicate in Gauteng.<\/p>\n<p>He testified that upon arresting three of the initial suspects in connection with Swart\u2019s murder &#8211; including police officer, Michael Pule Tau &#8211; the investigators were briefed by organised crime head, Major General Richard Shibiri.<\/p>\n<p>Shibiri told the team that those arrested were linked to notorious taxi boss, Jothan Msibi, otherwise known as \u201cMswati\u201d who died in January last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMswati was a person that was widely known as a taxi owner and was a ruthless someone in terms of killings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shibiri allegedly also confirmed that the accused had links to someone in the hawks only known as \u201cZungu\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s is a lot of resistance and interference that we are going to get from the police in terms of our investigations.
