Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Mami Diale was elected as the new Netball South Africa (NSA) President on Saturday, replacing Cecilia Molokwane.<\/p>\n

Diale was the frontrunner, securing 69 votes out of 116 from the NSA Council members during their 2025 quadrennial meeting in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

She was elected over Nompumelelo Vavu of Buffalo City and Annelie Lucas representing Cape Winelands.<\/p>\n

Of the 116 council members, 62 were present over the weekend, with representatives from the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) in attendance as observers.<\/p>\n

Diale has a wealth of experience within the organisation, having served as vice-president since 2021 and acting president since April 2025.<\/p>\n

Speaking on her election, Diale said, \u201cFirstly, I would like to thank the Council Members for demonstrating such confidence in me and electing me as their new leader for the next five years. A big thank you also to all members who nominated me \u2014 this is no small feat, and I am truly honoured.\u201d<\/p>\n

She emphasised that the real work begins now.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that the elections are concluded, the real work begins. I have full confidence that the new leadership of Netball South Africa is ready and capable to continue with the business of the day and the work that lies ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diale closed with a strong call to action for the future of the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot be oblivious to what has happened in the past; we now need to begin the work of restoration, rebuilding, and renewal. We must be intentional about doing the right thing, safeguarding our sport, and reclaiming its dignity. Time is a luxury we do not have \u2014 we need to hit the ground running.\u201d<\/p>\n
