Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry probing claims of interference in police operations will resume on Monday morning, with a SAPS ballistics expert set to testify.<\/p>\n

The witness will appear in person at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

Last week, three witnesses, all members of the Gauteng counterintelligence operations unit, testified partially in-camera before the commission.<\/p>\n

Last week, members of the Gauteng counterintelligence operations unit investigating the murder case of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Swart, raised serious concerns with the detective assigned to compile the ballistics report at the Silverton forensics lab in Pretoria.<\/p>\n

Swart, a father of two, was shot 23 times outside his company’s premises in April last year in what\u2019s been labelled as a case of mistaken identity.<\/p>\n

According to the investigating officer in the Swart murder case, Witness B, the ballistics report was removed on the SAPS internal system.<\/p>\n

The team took the decision to send the firearms used in the alleged murder of Swart to KZN’s forensics lab for a second opinion.<\/p>\n

Madlanga Commission spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, confirmed that a new witness would testify remotely on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Witness C, a detective previously attached to the political killings task team, will resume his testimony on Thursday after he began testifying last week Friday.<\/p>\n
