Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The South African Communist Party (SACP) has taken another thinly veiled swipe at the African National Congress (ANC), accusing the party of bowing to political pressure of some partners in the Government of National Unity (GNU), continuing to sideline its old allies.<\/p>\n

The SACP held its Red October rally in Klerksdorp, North West, on Sunday.<\/p>\n

SACP general secretary Solly Mapaila addressed party members on a range of issues, including reaffirming a decision to run against its tripartite alliance partner the ANC in 2026\u2019s local government elections.<\/p>\n

The SACP said its decision was largely due to the ANC refusing to reconfigure the alliance\u2019s terms to include more consensus decision making.<\/p>\n

Mapaila still insisted that this doesn\u2019t spell the end of the alliance, which is more than three decades old.<\/p>\n

But he said a shift in dynamics in the alliance warrants the move.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe gave so much trust, so much so that we don\u2019t even have leverage for the ANC to change its position. Some unknown parties, recently established, can control the ANC. Our leverage is the trust we have in the ANC and when they betray that trust, we are left with nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n
