Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Telkom is expected to release impressive results for the first half of its 2026 financial year, with headline earnings growth of up to 115%.<\/p>\n

Started in 1991, Telkom is one of South Africa\u2019s oldest and largest telecommunications companies, with a mobile subscriber base of around 23.2 million.<\/p>\n

On Monday, 10 November, the company released a trading update outlining its earnings expectations for the six months ended 30 September 2025.<\/p>\n

For its total operations, the telecoms giant expects its basic earnings per share to increase by between 43% and 51%, and its headline earnings per share to jump by between 57% and 65%.<\/p>\n

These numbers improve significantly when looking at only Telkom\u2019s continuing operations, which saw basic earnings per share increase by between 80% and 90%, and headline earnings grow by between 105% and 115%.<\/p>\n

These figures exclude Telkom\u2019s discontinued operations, which include its Swiftnet business that was sold in the 2025 financial year.<\/p>\n

Telkom explained that the significant increases in earnings were mainly due to a low base in the prior year, which saw one-off expenses.<\/p>\n

This includes an after-tax impact of R451 million for the derecognition loss of the Telkom<\/p>\n

Retirement Fund and an after-tax impact of R117 million relating to restructuring costs.<\/p>\n

The group noted that its continued underlying operating performance, as well as focused structural cost containment, also contributed to the earnings growth.<\/p>\n

This marks a strong turnaround for the telecoms giant, which took a hit in the first quarter of its 2026 financial year from its BCX business.<\/p>\n

In this quarter, the company\u2019s profit margins improved, but it recorded meagre group revenue growth of 1.1% to R10.82 billion, with increased contributions from the company\u2019s mobile data and fibre-based services.<\/p>\n

Telkom is set to release its interim results for the six months through September 2025 on or about 18 November 2025.<\/p>\n
