City officials have also acknowledged that a major cause of Joburg&#8217;s ongoing water woes is the extensive network of old and deteriorating underground pipes.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Wednesday at the launch of his CEO Clean-Up Campaign, Mayor Morero reaffirmed the city\u2019s commitment to addressing the crisis by improving and modernising its water and sewer systems.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor singled out the failing infrastructure as a top priority for his administration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are making a commitment as the City of Johannesburg to ensure that we deal with infrastructure refurbishments. The water and sewer infrastructure is high on our list.
