Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>President Cyril Ramaphosa says speeding up the building of schools is critical to achieving quality education.<\/p>\n

He spoke at the National Construction Summit, which is underway in Boksburg.<\/p>\n

The two-day summit has brought together government officials, labour and business partners.<\/p>\n

Many gathered at the construction summit are in agreement that infrastructure is key to economic growth, as it presents opportunities in job creation and transformation.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the summit, Ramaphosa said that in order to reduce inequality, pupils needed classrooms, sanitation facilities and safe learning environments.<\/p>\n

“We are here also so that we can build a country where there are enough classrooms for all the children of our country.”<\/p>\n

He added that the dignity of pupils must be restored.<\/p>\n

“Where no child has to swim across a river to get to school is what we are here about, to build bridges, so that our children can cross rivers to go to school in a safe manner.”<\/p>\n

The president said the idea also presented a business opportunity.<\/p>\n
