{"id":93591,"date":"2025-11-28T20:14:56","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T20:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/court-to-consider-ramaphosas-cabinet-adjustment"},"modified":"2025-11-28T21:14:40","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T21:14:40","slug":"court-to-consider-ramaphosas-cabinet-adjustment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/court-to-consider-ramaphosas-cabinet-adjustment","title":{"rendered":"Court To Consider Ramaphosa&#8217;s Cabinet Adjustment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>President Cyril Ramaphosa\u2019s adjustments to the executive will be considered by a Pretoria High Court bench following a day of arguments brought by the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the court heard the challenge by the party and its leader, Jacob Zuma, over Ramaphosa\u2019s decision to appoint Firoz Cachalia as acting police minister and place Senzo Mchunu on special leave.<\/p>\n<p>The party argues that Ramaphosa\u2019s move was unlawful and they have also challenged the establishment of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>One of the arguments by the MK Party and Zuma is that Ramaphosa cannot set up a judicial commission of inquiry to investigate the allegations that KwaZulu-Natal top cop Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi made because they are against the judidciary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat you cannot do is to appoint the deputy head nogal of the judiciary, just like you cannot appoint the deputy head of Ekurhuleni metro,\u201dsaid Zuma\u2019s lawyer- Dali Mpofu<\/p>\n<p>Zuma has also taken issue with Mchunu\u2019s fate being left to the outcome of the Madlanga Commission<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Madlanga Commission must not be mistaken for the Mchunu inquiry.
