Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Democratic Alliance in Tshwane says it will be opening a fraud case against Deputy Mayor Eugene Modise following the release of a forensic investigation report which found he unethically benefitted from a company currently doing business with the municipality.<\/p>\n

The report said Modise claimed rental income from leasing out one of his properties to Triotic Protection Services.<\/p>\n

Modise used to be one of the company\u2019s directors, however, he resigned in February 2023, a few weeks before he became a PR councillor for the African National Congress (ANC) in Tshwane.<\/p>\n

The report said Modise breached several sections of the councillors\u2019 code of conduct by not properly disclosing his financial interest in the company.<\/p>\n

DA caucus chief whip, Jacqui Uys, said Modise abused his position as both deputy mayor and finance MMC.<\/p>\n

“The DA will launch a case of fraud against Modise, the investigative report confirms Modise unlawfully benefits from a contract between the municipality and Triotic Protection Services.”<\/p>\n
