Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The City of Cape Town has assured residents that the properties set for its upcoming major land parcel auction are no longer required for municipal purposes.<\/p>\n

Approximately 50 properties\u2014zoned for residential, commercial, and industrial use\u2014will be made available for both sale and lease. The City views this auction as a strategic opportunity for private-sector investment to take root across the metro.<\/p>\n

Revenue generated from these transactions is earmarked to bolster the delivery of essential municipal services.<\/p>\n

UNLOCKING ECONOMIC POTENTIAL<\/b><\/p>\n

Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, emphasised that the initiative is a core part of the City\u2019s strategy to prevent land from sitting idle.<\/p>\n

“As part of my mandate, I am prioritising the release of well-located land to unlock economic potential. I firmly believe that our land portfolio must drive economic growth rather than sit idle, and this auction sets the standard for how we will put our properties to productive, purposeful use,” said Alderman Vos.<\/p>\n

COMMITMENT TO TRANSPARENCY<\/b><\/p>\n

To maintain integrity throughout the process, the City will utilise a public auction format, allowing bidders to compete in an open environment.<\/p>\n

“To ensure full transparency, bidders will have the opportunity to compete via a public auction. This major land release initiative complements the broader pipeline of disposals successfully delivered over the past several years,” Vos added.<\/p>\n
