Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government has described the recent floods as a setback in repairing damaged infrastructure in communities across the province.<\/p>\n

The floods caused significant damage in the disaster-prone coastal towns of Margate and Port Shepstone on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Both towns had previously received disaster relief funds from the national government to address weather-related devastation in April.<\/p>\n

KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli highlighted the need for renewed efforts to protect infrastructure and communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were just about to finish fixing some of the infrastructure, so there is a need now for them to make another application because we need to do something to prevent any damage to the infrastructure, including the impact on livelihoods.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that experts will also be deployed to assist in the recovery process.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are of the view that engineers will need to come on board so that they can advise on what should be done in the future when climate change affects the area, because it is here to stay.\u201d<\/p>\n
