Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The evidence of a former state security agency official was delayed on Tuesday because he didn\u2019t have the relevant permission from the Director General to testify.<\/p>\n

Xolile Mashukuca, the former chairperson of the State Security Agency, was set to make a public submission this Tuesday, but evidence leaders raised issues on whether he is certified to submit what could possibly be classified information.<\/p>\n

The public hearings continued for a second week, with four more submissions expected on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Ad Hoc Committee is continuing its public submissions this week as it enters the business end of its proceedings.<\/p>\n

But the first public submission on Tuesday from Xolile Mashukuca, a former SSA official, had to be postponed while he gets the relevant authority to address the committee.<\/p>\n

Evidence leader, Adv Norman Arendse.<\/p>\n

“There is an issue that I\u2019ve raised with you which relates to whether or not you had sought consent of the director general of ssa to give evidence before.”<\/p>\n

Mashukuca says he was not aware he needed permission and doesn\u2019t see a problem with his evidence because he\u2019s no longer employed by state security.<\/p>\n

” I\u2019m not aware of any provision of such a nature because I also operate in other capacities since I left that organisation.”<\/p>\n

The committee continued its hearings with whistleblower Patricia Mashale giving evidence about police corruption.<\/p>\n
