Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says striking bus operators contracted to the department have received a portion of their outstanding payments and will be paid in full by the end of this week.<\/p>\n

The development comes as the department has reached an agreement with the bus operators, who have been on strike for two weeks over non-payment.<\/p>\n

Chiloane has acknowledged that the department owed the operators for November and December 2025.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists this afternoon, the MEC says payment for December has been made, with the last payment due by the end of this week.<\/p>\n

The strike has affected thousands of learners who were left stranded because of the payment backlog.<\/p>\n

Services are expected to resume by Monday.<\/p>\n
