Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane says striking bus operators contracted to the department have received a portion of their outstanding payments and will be paid in full by the end of this week.<\/p>\n

The development comes as the department has reached an agreement with the disgruntled operators, who have been on strike for two weeks now over non-payment.<\/p>\n

He announced during a media briefing on Tuesday afternoon, following a closed engagement with stakeholders over scholar transport woes in the province.<\/p>\n

MEC Matome Chiloane has acknowledged that the department owed the operators for November and December 2025.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists, he assured that payment for December has been made and committed that the final payment to operators would be made by the end of this week.<\/p>\n

The two-week strike has affected thousands of learners who have been left stranded because of the payment backlog.<\/p>\n

Services are expected to resume on Monday.<\/p>\n
