{"id":96870,"date":"2026-04-06T12:56:39","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T12:56:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/ramaphosa-highlights-churchs-role-in-national-dialogue"},"modified":"2026-04-06T13:02:03","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T13:02:03","slug":"ramaphosa-highlights-churchs-role-in-national-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/ramaphosa-highlights-churchs-role-in-national-dialogue","title":{"rendered":"Ramaphosa Highlights Church&#8217;s Role in National Dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>President Cyril Ramaphosa said we must be reminded that the church plays a critical role, even in processes like the National Dialogue, where the country seeks to develop a national ethos and common value system.<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking at the service of St Engenas Zion Christian Church on Sunday in Moria, Limpopo.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa said churches like these with millions of followers show that there is reach and influence, and it should be used to achieve common goals shared by the government and the people.<\/p>\n<p>The first convention of the dialogue took place in 2025, with the local and sectoral dialogues to follow before the second convention.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa said the National Dialogue is a platform where solutions are sought after, not only from government but from the rest of the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said there should be a social contract from this, where people participate on their own, and their voices can be heard.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa praised the St Engenas Church for its supporter base and reiterated that he is confident the church is a body dedicated to helping resolve issues faced by the people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is where the church, apart from opening those sessions with prayer, it can actually give us guidance on the key aspects that can take our country forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that while the government gives its respect to churches, he gives a stern warning to those corrupt ones who misuse their power and influence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe churches of congregations of those that practices that finally get people to eat snakes or a level where they drink petrol; they are not acting in the interest of our people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that the church plays a neutral role and acts as an arbiter from politics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">South-Africa<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa.
