{"id":96905,"date":"2026-04-07T14:12:59","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T14:12:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/madlanga-commission-resumes-its-hearings"},"modified":"2026-04-07T14:28:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T14:28:56","slug":"madlanga-commission-resumes-its-hearings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/madlanga-commission-resumes-its-hearings","title":{"rendered":"Madlanga Commission Resumes Its Hearings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>After a two-week break, the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry will resume hearings on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The commission is expected to continue focusing on the alleged corruption and tender rigging at the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and its police department.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the commission has heard how senior officials within the metro allegedly colluded with businesspeople to defraud the city of millions of rands in taxpayers&#8217; money.<\/p>\n<p>While the hearings were paused over the past two weeks, the commission\u2019s investigators and evidence leaders continued their work in the background.<\/p>\n<p>Since they started looking into the affairs of the City of Tshwane, some heads have already started to roll.<\/p>\n<p>The first was a former ActionSA councillor, Kholofelo Morodi.<\/p>\n<p>Morodi was fired from her job as both MMC and councillor, with her party also terminating her membership.<\/p>\n<p>This came after it was revealed at the commission that she shared confidential tender documents with controversial cop Sergeant Fannie Nkosi.<\/p>\n<p>Tshwane\u2019s Metro Police Department (TMPD) deputy chief, Umashi Dhlamini, was also suspended on allegations that he colluded with Nkosi to rig tenders at the department.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the city is currently pouring over the written submissions of its chief financial officer (CFO), Gareth Mnisi, on why he should not be suspended, following similar corruption allegations made against him at the Madlanga Commission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">South-Africa<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa.
