{"id":96911,"date":"2026-04-07T14:14:05","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T14:14:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/tshwane-police-chief-denies-nkosis-authority-interference"},"modified":"2026-04-07T14:29:25","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T14:29:25","slug":"tshwane-police-chief-denies-nkosis-authority-interference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/tshwane-police-chief-denies-nkosis-authority-interference","title":{"rendered":"Tshwane Police Chief Denies Nkosi&#8217;s Authority Interference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Chief of the Tshwane Metro Police Department, Yolande Faro, says controversial police sergeant Fannie Nkosi had no authority to interfere in the TMPD\u2019s internal matters.<\/p>\n<p>WhatsApp messages before the Madlanga Commission show Nkosi has been in frequent contact with senior officials in the city regarding the awarding of TMPD tenders, contracts and invoice disputes.<\/p>\n<p>His regular contacts were TMPD deputy chief, Umasi Dhlamini and the city\u2019s chief financial officer, Gareth Mnisi.<\/p>\n<p>Both these contacts occupied critical positions within the city\u2019s procurement department.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence shows the three men colluded to award TMPD tenders to their preferred bidders, including a company belonging to Nkosi\u2019s brother.<\/p>\n<p>As head of the TMPD, Faro said she was unaware of Nkosi\u2019s influence within her department.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSergeant Nkosi had no right to interfere in any procurement-related matters within the TMPD. He had no authority, no permission. I was not aware that he\u2019s busy interfering. I don\u2019t know Sergeant Nkosi. I never made contact with him.
