Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The opening of The Capital Boardwalk, a new 145-room aparthotel and entertainment hub, marks a major boost to tourism, business travel and job creation in Gqeberha.<\/p>\n

Opening its doors on 17 April with guest stays starting on 1 May, The Capital Boardwalk is transforming the hospitality space in Gqeberha, formerly known as Port Elizabeth.<\/p>\n

This hotel development is the city\u2019s first aparthotel, conferencing venue and all-round entertainment complex.<\/p>\n

It includes an in-house restaurant, 145 hotel rooms and apartments, and easy access to The Boardwalk casino, the beach, and the shopping centre.<\/p>\n

Developed by The Capital Hotel Group, this marks the brand\u2019s first presence in Gqeberha and a significant step in its national expansion strategy.<\/p>\n

The Capital Boardwalk is designed to strengthen the city\u2019s tourism appeal, create jobs and give travellers the freedom to stay longer and live better.<\/p>\n

The Capital Hotels, Apartments & Resorts CEO Marc Wachsberger explained that this landmark property marks a defining moment for tourism in the Eastern Cape.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith The Capital Boardwalk now open, we\u2019re delivering on our promise to create a space that supports business, empowers local talent, and adds new energy to one of South Africa\u2019s most storied coastal cities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

As the city\u2019s first aparthotel, The Capital Boardwalk offers an alternative for expats, corporate travellers and contractors working in the region.<\/p>\n

Its fully serviced apartments come with kitchens, laundry facilities and flexible housekeeping, making it easy to live for weeks or months at a time with hotel-level convenience.<\/p>\n

The property also offers guests direct mall access and easy proximity to Gweberha\u2019s business and industrial hubs.<\/p>\n

Inside The Capital Boardwalk<\/b><\/p>\n

The name The Capital Boardwalk reflects its position within the Boardwalk precinct, placing guests at the centre of shopping, dining, entertainment and leisure.<\/p>\n

With direct access to Checkers, Woolworths and Pick n Pay, the hotel gives visitors the flexibility to self-cater or dine out.<\/p>\n

The precinct flows directly onto Gqeberha\u2019s famous beachfront, offering the perfect setting for morning jogs, seaside walks and sunset views over Nelson Mandela Bay.<\/p>\n

On-site entertainment includes the Magic Company, cinemas, casino, padel courts and many restaurants and bars. The pool deck and garden will also host regular DJ sessions and events.<\/p>\n

The property features 145 units, including standard rooms, studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, and luxury penthouses.<\/p>\n

Each penthouse offers generous space, a fully equipped kitchen and extra-comfortable beds dressed in premium linen. The ensuite bathroom includes a deep-soaking tub, a rain shower, and access to a generous private balcony.<\/p>\n

Guests can connect in the co-working hub with Zoom rooms and host events in the fully equipped conference centre, which can host up to 400 delegates.<\/p>\n

A restaurant and bar, a fully equipped gym, and family-friendly leisure spaces round out the experience, while complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, 24-hour reception and security, and secure mall-linked parking ensure convenience.<\/p>\n

Accessibility features are also built in, with a Paraplegic Executive Room designed for comfort and independence.<\/p>\n

The project is expected to create over 500 direct and indirect jobs during construction, with 170\u2013200 new permanent roles once operational.<\/p>\n

From hospitality and maintenance to local supply partnerships, the development strengthens The Capital Hotel Group\u2019s long-term commitment to inclusive growth and destination development.<\/p>\n
