{"id":97786,"date":"2026-04-27T15:18:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T15:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/ramaphosa-says-corruption-erodes-sas-democratic-gains"},"modified":"2026-04-27T15:31:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T15:31:22","slug":"ramaphosa-says-corruption-erodes-sas-democratic-gains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/ramaphosa-says-corruption-erodes-sas-democratic-gains","title":{"rendered":"Ramaphosa Says Corruption Erodes SA&#8217;s Democratic Gains"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>President Cyril Ramaphosa has used his Freedom Day address to speak against the danger of corruption.<\/p>\n<p>The president said that corruption erodes the country\u2019s democratic gains.<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking at the Dr Rantlai Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein, where the government is hosting this year\u2019s Freedom Day rally.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa said that many gains have been made by the democratic government; however, more work still needs to be done.<\/p>\n<p>While access to electricity and water has been extended to more South Africans since Apartheid, the triple challenge of poverty, unemployment and inequality persists.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa said that some of these challenges are further entrenched by corruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is to advance human dignity that we continue to act without fear or favour against those who undermine the promise of our freedom. Every rand that is stolen is an attack on our democracy.
