The Executive Director in the Office of the President Major-General Deng Wal who was promoted from the rank of colonel to the rank of Major General in the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and welcomed the decision promoting him from President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
President Salva Kiir last week promoted the senior presidency official from the rank of colonel to the rank of major-general in the army. He was decorated on Friday at the office of the president in the presence of President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the army chief General Santino Deng Wol. Below is the full text statement appreciating President Kiir for the promotion.
Dear Fellow Compatriots
I greet you in the name of our beloved country. Today marks one of the high points in my service to the nation and for which I have been decorated as a Major General in South Sudan’s People Defense Forces (SSPDF). While words cannot express the depth of my joy and profound appreciation, many people contributed to molding me into who I am today, and I say thank you. Without being exhaustive owing to time and space, let me register a few thanks.
H. E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit—Thank you for the trust and confidence in me, serving you as the Executive Director and also acknowledging my service in the national army. I know this promotion comes with an incredible responsibility. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve this great nation in many ways while growing under your able leadership and fatherly care.
General Santino Deng Wol—Thank you for the unfailing support and I also thanks the entire SSPDF General Headquarters, both rank and file, for the tremendous support that they have accorded me during this shared yet blissful journey, especially today when I was decorated and attired.
Colleagues in the Presidency— You have been the bedrock of the work we do to serve His Excellency the President and our people. Thank you for the solid support, care, love, humility, gratitude, and professionalism. You are the best, and I remain eternally grateful.
My Family and Friends— thank you very much for continuing support and encouragement to me in serving my president and the people of South Sudan. You are the best and only God will reward you for your parental upbringing, friendly advice, and dependable backing, come sun, come rain.
My Supporters on the Facebook and other Social Media— You have also become an incredible source of inspiration, experience sharing, and joys on countless occasions. I bring you this great news today. Thank you for being who you are: loyal, tolerant, supportive, and frank.
The SSPDF and our Martyrs— I salute you all for the priceless service to our nation today and in the past. I know that I am standing today on the shoulders of giants and for that I am grateful.
In closing, I am grateful to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for nurturing and considering me worthy to serve him and our country. To all my other benefactors—parents, friends, SSPDF command and forces, and the people of South Sudan— thank you for everything.
