The Directorate of Immigration yesterday revealed that 34,671 foreigners are living in Juba, according to the report released, Uganda is the highest with 8,186 but with a poor record of immigration documents followed by Kenyans with 5,407.

A just-released data report indicated that visas, foreign nationals registrations, and resident permits renewal have increased revenue collection by 39.7%, since registration started in July last year.

The report came when the head of the Directorate of Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport and Immigration, Lt. Gen Atem MarolBiar briefed the diplomats to let them know the status of the indigenous of their own country.

“The reason we call you today is very simple, you are all aware that since last year we are doing registration of aliens in this country. So, we want you today to witness the presentation and the work done by this department/directorate,” Atem said.

“The reason we want to present this data is for you to see the performance of your people in this country, there are people who perform very well and there are people who didn’t perform well and we need them to perform very well,” he added.

Gen Biar also suspended an immigration operation dubbed as ‘Silence Search’ that crackdown the aliens without legal documents in Juba but stressed that ‘Silence Search’ will continue in states help countries have proper records of foreigners.

Data Immigration Stock officer, Ochan Joseph Lazarus announced that Sudanese nationals in Juba are 5,389 souls with 89% having valid documents or passport and resident permits which makes Sudan number one in possessing legal documents.

The report further stated that Sudanese registered with valid passports but not in possession of valid visas stand at 9% while those registered without proper legal documents total to 2%.

The report also shows that Ethiopian nationals registered in Juba are 3,145 individuals in which 60% are having valid travel documents and valid residents permits and 17% possess valid documents with an expired visa, however, 23% have no travel documents or visa.

Somalia has 2,691 registered Somalis currently in Juba and 71% of them have valid travel documents and visas, while 23% are with valid passports but with an expired visa and 6% don’t possess any travel documents.

Uganda is the highest with 8,168 Ugandans nationals living in Juba but lowest performance with 79% registered with no valid immigration documents such as visa and passport. Only 14% has valid passport and visas and 7% with a valid passport and expired visas.

Eritreans residing Juba are 5,331 souls with 61% having no proper travel documents and visas while 39% have valid travel documents and resident visas. Kenyans are 5,407 and no more details were revealed about Kenya.

The annual migration stock report 2021 – registered 575 Indians, 534 Chinese, 422 Nigerians, 129 Pakistanis, 66 Syrians, 95 Bangladeshis, 74 British, 348 Rwandese, 50 Congolese, 107 Americans and 26 Philippians.

It’s added that 191 Egyptians were registered and 86 Lebanese, 326 Burundians, 10 Swedish, 11 Cameroonians, and 187 Tanzanians, 33 Turkish, other Europeans 227, other African nationalities 224, other Asians nationalities 176 and other South Americans 61 among others.
