Lecturers at the University of Juba yesterday waived strike demanding clearance of their cumulative six Months unpaid salary arrears using the new remuneration payroll system.
This came as a resolution passed during a dean’s boards meeting held yesterday majorly on the issues regarding arrears for the teaching staff at the University
Last year, the Ministry of General education increased the basic salaries for all the University teaching staff as a step of remuneration improvement.
Based on the resolution passed during the meeting, the dean’s board has called on the Ministry of finance to pay the University of Juba’s staff six Months’ salary arrears within the duration of 7 days.
Furthermore, they urged the Ministry of Higher Education to speedily review and implement the new inflation index pay for the public Universities. The dean’s meeting pointed out that the demand of the arrears would not have any impact on the normality and progress of the University Examination.
Based on the interval of time given to the Ministry of Finance and Education, the demand for the lecture would be genuine towards execution and implementation without any prejudice.
