Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan on Thursday announced its biggest budget of SSP 338 billion spending plan for the financial year 2021/2022. The final reading determined how the peace government would be spending money even as the end of its ruling term nears.
The Committee on Finance and Economic Planning Chairperson, Changkuoth Bichiok Reth, presented the final readings in the parliament. The MPs increased the budget ceiling by more than SSP 50 billion after they noted that there was a surplus of more than SSP 174 billion.
From the approved amount, SSP 3 billion has been allocated for goods and services, while more than SSP 366 million will go for salaries and wages. More than SSP 22 billion will be for transfers.
Notably, a lionshare of the budget went to the parliament with more than SSP 43 billion which represents 13% of the budget The Ministry of General Education and Instructions has been allocated more than SSP 28 billion, which represents 8.4%.
The ministry of Health on the other has received more than SSP 27 billion, which also represents 8.2% of the budget. The Judicial Service Commission receives the least amount of SSP 11 million, which represents 0.003%. More than SSP 1 billion for salaries and wages, goods and services with more than SSP 6 billion, transfers and capital each more than SSP 6 billion.
