Africa-Press – South-Sudan. A senior member of the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state has resigned citing personal issues that he says need more time away from politics.
Kiir Chan Wol, former minister of local government and law enforcement agencies in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state made the decision in a statement released on Thursday afternoon.
In the statement, Wol who joined the SPLM-IO between 2019 and 2020 urged First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny who doubles as the chairman and commander in chief of the main armed opposition group to consider his decision.
“Regards to the above mentioned subject, I would like to submit this humble letter of mine to your esteem office, due to the reason that I have some things that I want to do as my personal issues and concern in the current time far away from politics,” he said.
“I will be available in my home to follow-up my family issues. Your cooperation and consideration is much appreciated,” he added, without give further reasons as to why he decided to resign from the group.
