BREAKING | 22 people killed by unknown gunmen in Mugali

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. At least 22 people including women and children have reportedly been killed at Mugali Payam of Magwi County in Eastern Equatorial state after unidentified gunmen attacked the cattle camp belonging to Dinka Bor of Jonglei on Wednesday, an eye-witness confirmed.

According to sources, seven elderly men in their 70s are among those killed and 4 children between the ages of 1 – 3 years. The incident left dozens others with serious gun injuries.

The attackers made off with hundreds of cattle. Police in the area are yet to uncover the identities and the motive of the attackers. Dr. Bior Kwer Bior, Chairperson for Bor Community Youth Association (BCYA) called upon the government to forcefully intervene and halt the ongoing bloodletting.

“Although the news reaching us are sketchy inasmuch as the number of casualties is concerned, we nonetheless condemn the continued attack on Dinka Bor Cattle-keeping IDPs in the Greater Equatoria,”Bior said in facebook post seen by Sudans Post.

“We call upon the government to forcefully intervene and halt the ongoing bloodletting. The public will be comprehensively updated once we have reliable information on the number of innocent lives lost.”
