Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan National Youth Union Speaker, Matthew Marko Lokitoe is set to appear before the union’s council today amidst the ongoing leadership wrangles at the organization.
“It has come to the attention of the National Youth Union Council that you (Marko) have unilaterally written a letter without prior consultation with the council,” said South Sudan National Youth Union rapporteur Nyakume Lual Chuol in a rebuttal letter.
Chuol’s statement came hours after Lokitoe had written a letter directing deputy chair, Benjamin Bang Bang, to act in place of the suspended national chairman, Gola Boyoi Gola.
“The council informs the Deputy Chairperson of National Youth Union to act in the position of the Chairperson as stipulated in the general regulations,” read part of Marko’s letter. Galo was suspended by Minister for Youth and Sports, Dr Albino Bol Dhieu, last week. According to Marko, the council had welcomed the suspension.
“The council appeals for calm among the councillors and all the youth as suspension and investigation are normal administrative processes, and council leadership urges youth to embrace peace, unity and coexistence,” added Marko. Chuol, however, warned that the union would take action against Marko should he fails to avail himself before the council.
