Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Unity State Governor, Joseph Manytuil Wecjang has arrived in Juba ahead of a crucial meeting with President Salva Kiir.
Manytuil is said to have been summoned by President Kiir to answer some questions over the controversial execution of suspected armed groups.
According to multiple sources who spoke to City Review, Manytuil arrived in the capital over the weekend.
“He is in Juba. I think he came yesterday,” Gabriel Kuon, the Unity State Information Minister told City Review in a phone interview.
Kuon, however, did not shed more light on the details of the meeting.
“I will not report on that because I am not in the office; someone is acting on my behalf,” he said.
Reliable sources revealed that the president has been fuming over the insecurity situation in Unity State and the matter got out of hand following the recent extrajudicial executions by officers believed to be members of the SSPDF.
Last week, members of the South Sudan People’s Movement (SSPM/A) who were linked with the brutal murder of Mayom County Commissioner have killed by firing squad.
The SSPDF condemned the move with Maj. Gen Lul Ruai, the Army spokesperson, added that Bilpam was not behind the decision and that the order did not come from the government.
Kiir is said to be fuming over the spate of killings in the state.
