Malong claims spy chief deployed operatives along Juba-Nimule highway to attack civilian buses

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan holdout opposition leader and former army chief Gen. Paul Malong Awan Anei has claimed in a statement that the Director-General of Internal Security Bureau (ISB) at the National Security Service (NSS) Gen. Akol Koor Kuc has deployed security operatives to cause insecurity along the Juba-Nimule highway by attacking civilian buses travelling between Juba and Uganda.

In the statement extended to Sudans Post, the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) said General Akol Koor is responsible for the renewed fighting in Upper Nile region as well as the attack on passenger vehicles along the highways in the world’s youngest country, claiming that the group’s intelligence department has identified those operatives deployed by the security forces.

“We would like to categorically inform the general public about the insecurity that is happening in the country. The SSUF/A Military Intelligent (MI) have got information that the security apparatuses in Juba have decided to attack civilian buses in Nimule road, Bahr el Ghazal and Upper Nile regions,” the SSUF said in a statement signed by Col. Philip Deng Kuol Nguot, the SSUF/A’s military mouthpiece.

“The matter was discussed in a closed-meeting by National Security personnel where they recruited a new team to carry out orders of insecurities. They created zones at which they will carry out their operations. The reasons for all insecurities, comes after President Kiir calls for the resumption of Rome Peace Talks,” the statement alleged.

The statement went on to claim that “Bilatus Hestons Khamilo is the area supervisor of the operation who guided the operation and the killing of the civilians with his group.”

It claimed that “the killing of Catholic Nuns on 18th August 2021 was carried out by Justine Uyat, an officer of national security and assigned around Juba by director of national security Service to cause any insecurity that will hinder the peace talks in Rome. Officer Uyat is a security personnel who was once assigned to guard Vice President Wani Igga.”

The statement further claimed the zones of the alleged operation include Obama Centre (Zone 1) along the way from Arua junction to Nimule, Kubi to Nimule Highway (Zone 2) and Jebel Malok Torit highway (Zone 3).

“We condemns this barbaric act of the national security on the roads, conducted by Bilatus Hestons Khamilo and his group,” the statement said, accusing General Akol Koor of being “responsible for the civilians that are being killed and displaced in (Shilluk) Collo land, Agwelek is now fighting on behalf of the government.”
