Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Eastern Equatoria government and the United Nations peacekeepers will jointly address insecurity in the state.
The state minister of peacebuilding, Marko Lokidor, said such cooperation would ensure peace and stability in the state. “I want to say that through working together with the UN agencies, especially in implementing the revitalised peace agreement, the local population in the grassroots will achieve lasting peace,” he said.
The acting head of the Torit field office for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, Tahir Cevit, assured the entire population in the state of their continued support.
Tahir called on the UN member countries to cooperate to contribute to and ensure the prevalence of peace.
“This day reminds us that South Sudan, as one of the member countries of the United Nations, and the UN will continue to support the people of Eastern Equatoria State, especially in helping the grass-root population with service delivery.”
The deputy governor, Mary Lodira, urged the United Nations agencies not to worry about the insecurity in the state.
She said their deployment would enhance the activities of the humanitarian agencies in delivering services to the local population within the state.
The deputy governor encouraged the civil society to continue reporting about the issues affecting citizens in the country.
“I am ready to stand with you because all that you people are reporting are realities and I think through reporting the leaders of this state and the country will realise where the mistakes [to allow] some of us who are transparent will stand with you,” said Lodira.
