Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Somali Ambassador to South Sudan has dismissed a report that six of his fellow countrywomen were arrested with fake foreign passports at Juba International Airport.
According to a local newspaper, the women landed at the airport with fake Zimbabwean passports early this week.
Ambassador Abdul Hakim Abdullah said after the publication, he contacted the airport authorities, but there were no Somalis detained at the airfield.
“What we heard on Wednesday that 6 Somalin women were detained at juba airport this according to the Alwatan Arabic newspaper, when we called the immigration department at juba airport they say there is no any Somalia national is detained at the airport its not true,” said Hakim.
“As Somalia community, we have a good relationship with immigration department and most of the Somalia people who lived in South Sudan are having legal document and business and they are living in South Sudan peacefully and this information is not correct.”
The number of Somali nationals in South Sudan is roughly 13,000, according to Abdullahi Hassan Ali, the Chief Executive Officer of Somali business community chairperson in the county.
