Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Western Equatoria State Minister of General Education and Instruction, Grace Appolo Musa, cautioned the educational authorities against meddling in teachers’ wages.

She accused some county authorities of trying to manipulate teachers’ compensation, warning that such a move would be detrimental to the state’s schools’ performance.

In her remarks during the visit of the national minister of general education and instruction, Awut Deng, in Maridi County, Musa outlined the difficulties the education sector is facing, particularly in the counties of Maridi, Mundri East, Mundri West, and Ibba.

According to her, Mundri East and West devised a system in which when money for education is sent to their county, they pay other payams while skipping others—which is unacceptable.

While she said Maridi and Ibba were deducting teachers’ salaries, and education works without using proper management.

She directed the commissioners of the aforementioned areas to intervene in addressing some of these issues in order to raise the standard of education in the area.

She urged the government to use all of its efforts to bring about the nation’s permanent peace, saying that the only way to accomplish this was to encourage the next generation to pursue education.

“These students are intelligent, and I can tell by what they have shown that they are knowledgeable and skilled. Please understand that we need peace in order for those kids to continue learning and that I am sending this message to the South Sudanese government through the National Minister of Education, Awut, “said Musa.

According to her, after Maridi Girls Boarding Secondary School students demonstrated their aptitude in the sciences with hands-on experiments in biology, chemistry, physics, and computer science, she concluded that the children are bright but only need peace.
