Africa-Press – South-Sudan. The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) pitched a tent in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, as the ruling party embarked on political mobilisation to strengthen support.

While addressing SPLM members in Aweil, NBGS Governor Tong Akeen Ngor, who serves as the party’s state chairperson, said the recent restructuring of the SPLM party at the national level would bring more energy beneficial to mobilization.

He added that more programs would be developed to make the political mobilization more effective as the party positions itself for the forthcoming general election.

“I need to reiterate to you all, dear members, that we are more prepared to win the upcoming general elections,” Tong said.

He urged the SPLM state secretariat to put in action all the directives and programs from the national secretariat to promote the activities of the SPLM in the state.

He said that the party would extend the mobilisation to all the payams, bomas and villages as he remained optimistic that many members would be recruited in the new year.

Tong said that several training would be carried out across the state in order to ensure all SPLM members learn the policies of the party that focus on service delivery.

He appealed to the members to use the new year to disseminate peace among all the citizens

The area governor seized the moment to lecture the SPLM members on the role of every party member in the recently signed Roadmap 2022, which extended the Revitalised Peace Agreement for 24 months.

He called on the parties to the Revitalised Peace Agreement in the state to work together with the SPLM for smooth implementation of the revitalised peace in accordance with the roadmap for 2022.

Past moblisation

In October 2022, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) party in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State registered a sizeable chunk of new members to end the year on a high.

He disclosed that the mobilisation was in tandem with the functions of the interim State Liberation Council under the theme “Unity and Peace for a Robust SPLM”.

Both SPLM Secretary-General Peter Lam and the state party secretariat praised the state party secretariat for mobilising and recruiting 723 members, calling it a good gesture.

Lam said the aim of touring all the states and administrative areas was to prepare the party for elections.

He said the current mobilisation is to see that the party is consolidated and organised as part for preparation for the upcoming election.
