Dont just criticise the government, offer solution too, Mayor Alla-Jabu tells youth

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Juba City Mayor Michael Allah-Jabu, has told young people to stop criticisng the and instead offer tangible solutions to most of the things they don’t agree with.

“Youth do not need to oppose the government in order to succeed in this leadership and have the government’s support,” he said.

The mayor was speaking during the closing ceremony of the Juba County Youth Convention in Lobonok Payam.

Meanwhile, National Youth Union, Secretary General Simon Yel Yel said the young people need to take proactive role in restoring peace in the country

“We are in a total mess, yes, we did not mess up ourselves, but we were influenced and we allowed that. The youth need to stop following the leaders,” Yel said.

He noted that lack of employment among the youth in the country is one of the challenges facing most of them.

“The only job opportunity left for the youth is being a soldier or joining rebels, but we (youth) want to make sure that we pressure the government to give young people the chance,” he stated.

He appealed to the youth to stand firm and take up a political position for the better development of South Sudan.

However, the newly elected Chairperson for the Youth Union of Juba County, Emmanuel Laku, said, addressing the challenges of unemployment in the country is the collective responsibility of the communities and the government.

He hailed the newly formed administration of the youth and promised to work with the community for a better future for the youth in Juba County.

However, Irene Yangi, a youth mentor, urged the women to seize every opportunity and participate at all levels, including in their communities.

“There were few women who are contesting for different positions, the absence of women doesn’t mean that they can’t lead,” Irene said.

The first convention for the Juba County youth Union brought together more than seventy youths from the thirteen payam of Juba County and the officials from the state government.
