The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has already surpassed its annual non-oil revenue target by at least four million, with three months left until the end of fiscal year 2022/23. The agency said Thursday that they have already cashed in SSP 128.2 billion against the 124 billion targets set by the government early last year.
Last month alone, NRA collected SSP 17.7 billion, the highest monthly total since its establishment in 2018. “Cumulative collections for the first 9 months of FY 2022/2023 have now topped SSP 128.184 billion in gross aggregate terms, surpassing the government’s annual target set for us by 9 percent,” NRA Commissioner General Patrick Mugoya said. Patrick reiterated the government agency’s commitment to sustain March’s performance in the coming months. If they manage to surpass March’s figure, the authority can surpass the annual target by over 51 billion by the end of the financial year.
“You are therefore expected to continue innovating around your agreed revenue enhancement strategies and put them into practice immediately so as to have good results come April 17, which is approaching fast.” He added. Mugoya further told the department’s domestic tax revenue division to broaden its tax base and also ensure that the arrears owed are collected.“Two resident officers must be stationed on a full-time basis at each manufacturing establishment in Juba before May 1, 2023, to monitor the production of excisable goods.” Patrick directed,” added the Mugoya.
