Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Authorities in Ruweng Administrative Area on Friday launched the construction of the long-awaited Abienmom Airstrip in the area.
The Director Information for Ruweng Administrative Area, Sarah Dut, said the new airstrip was going to be of huge benefit and importance not only to Abiemnom people but also to the neighbouring states.
“The new airstrip will facilitate transportation of goods, medical supplies, and people,”Akuot said.
Amoco Construction Group Limited Company, a Juba-based company was awarded the contract.
The company announced this week that the duration of the project could take only three months, and they would hand over the airstrip to the government of Ruweng Administrative Area.
The construction of the Abiemnom Airstrip is part of multiple projects tailored by government of Ruweng Administrative Area.
The Ruweng is the most oil-producing area in South Sudan, about 80 per cent of the country’s oil is produced here.
