Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a Republican Decree reconstituting the transitional state legislative assembly of Western Equatoria state, marking a crucial step in the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.
In the presidential appointment readout on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), Kiir appointed Wakila Abdo of the SPLM-IG as the speaker of Western Equatoria state parliament.
In the same decree, the South Sudanese head of state appointed Simon Sebit Peter of the SPLM-IO as the deputy speaker of Western Equatoria state parliament.
Kiir also appointed 100 other politicians representing various politicians representing various various politician parties as members of state parliament.
The reconstitution of the country’s Western Equatoria state parliament marks a crucial step in the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement as Western Equatoria becomes the first state to have a reconstituted parliament.
