Africa-Press – South-Sudan. President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo to participate in the summit of Sudan’s neighbouring countries organised by Egypt to try to develop mechanism for resolution of the conflict.

“President Salva Kiir on Wednesday arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo to attend the Sudan Neighbors Summit to discuss ways to end the Sudan crisis,” said a statement from the presidency.

According to the statement, Kiir was accompanied by his security advisor Tut Gatluak Manime, presidential affairs minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin, and acting foreign minister Deng Dau.

The meeting called upon by Egyptian President Abdelfattah El-Sisi aims to discuss the ongoing Sudanese conflict which begun in mid-April after the RSF launched a surprise attack on government and Sudanese army positions in the capital Khartoum.

It will brings together heads of state from South Sudan, Egypt, Chad, Central Africa, Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Kiir was received at Cairo International Airport by Egyptian minister of youth and sports Ashraf Sobhy and South Sudan’s ambassador to Cairo Joseph Muom Majak.
